Led by researcher Antonio Di Paolo, this study serves as a first quantitative approach to understanding the linguistic needs of union members across Catalonia. The data reveals that while knowledge of Catalan is high, the “usage gap” is growing, especially among younger workers and those in the private sector. The methodology used—surveying delegates who act as observers in their companies—provides a unique, ground-level perspective that differs from official government censuses.
