How Geographic Access to Language Courses Influences Language Use

Researchers Antonio Di Paolo and Bernat Mallén have analyzed the long-term effects of the Consortium for Linguistic Normalization (CPNL) courses. Their study demonstrates that geographic proximity to a learning center is a decisive factor in whether an adult decides to enroll and eventually master Catalan. The findings suggest that decentralizing language training and bringing it directly to neighborhoods and business parks could significantly increase the number of proficient Catalan speakers.
