ILTED

Overview of the ILTED Database

The ILTED (Intensidad Lingüística del Trabajo en la Era Digital / Linguistic Intensity of Occupations in the Digital Era) database provides standardized measures of linguistic intensity for occupations classified under ISCO-08. It quantifies the role of language and communication in professional tasks, offering comparable indicators for analysis and decision-making.

Variable Structure

ILTED is provided using ISCO-08 (International Standard Classification of Occupations) in 2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit precision, as well as ONET-SOC 2010. Following, the used variables are detailed.

ISCO-08 (2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit)

HSC Index0.00 – 100.00Communication Skills
HTI Index0.00 – 100.00Information-processing Abilities
ILT Index0.00 – 100.00Linguistic Intensity of Occupations

ONET-SOC 2010

HSC Index0.00 – 100.00Communication Skills
HTI Index0.00 – 100.00Information-processing Abilities
ILT Index0.00 – 100.00Linguistic Intensity of Occupations

Each record corresponds to an occupation identified by its ISCO-08 code. For every occupation, the following indexes are included:

Computed Indexes

CL – Competencias Lingüísticas (Linguistic Competences)
Built from indicators related to listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills required in the occupation. Each indicator is derived from standardized measures of language use in tasks.
HSC – Habilidades de Comunicación (Communication Skills)
Built from indicators measuring interaction and coordination with others, negotiation, and other communicative tasks.
HTI – Habilidades para el Tratamiento de la Información (Information Processing Skills)
Built from indicators measuring the ability to analyze, interpret, and manage information in the job context.
ILT – Intensidad Lingüística en el Trabajo (Linguistic Intensity of Occupations)
A second-order formative composite index summarizing CL, HSC, and HTI. Factor scores for the three dimensions are standardized using the formula: (Score – Minimum) / (Maximum – Minimum) * 100
This produces four indices (CL, HSC, HTI, ILT) scaled from 0 to 100, where 100 indicates the maximum level of requirement for an occupation.
