Experts Warn: “Catalan Has Never Been Systematically Taught in the Workplace”
Camil Ros, the Secretary General of UGT, has criticized the historical lack of linguistic training policies within the private sector. He argues that while Catalan has been successfully introduced into schools, it has been largely neglected in the labor market, leaving many workers—especially newcomers—without the tools to use it professionally. The union is calling for the “normalization” of Catalan through collective bargaining agreements and public-private partnerships to ensure that learning the language is seen as a professional right.
